Treatment of furuncles and carbuncles

A comprehensive, individualized, anonymous approach to treatment.
Furuncle (lat. furunculus), boil – acute necrotic suppurative inflammation of the hair follicle, sebaceous gland of hair and surrounding connective tissue, caused by pyogenic bacteria, mainly Staphylococcus aureus.
The furuncle is caused by contamination and microtrauma of the skin (it occurs in men during careless face shaving), hyperhidrosis, unhealthy food, metabolic disorders, decreased activity of the immune system, etc.
Furunculosis is a disease characterized by large number of boils on different parts of the skin.
Carbuncle is a disease in which several adjacent hair follicles become inflamed. We
can say that these are several boils combined into one. The disease has a more severe
course.
Areas of the body where furuncles (boils) are most common:
– face: nose, nasolabial triangle (the area of skin between the nose and upper lip), ear area
– back of the neck: in this case, a certain role is played by the fact that the skin of the neck constantly rubs with the collar
– forearms
– buttocks and thighs
Treatment of furuncles
In most cases, furuncles are limited with local treatment, which is carried out in
accordance with the stages of the disease.
For multiple and recurrent furuncles, treatment should include therapy aimed at immune boost. For this purpose, autohemotherapy, laser and ultraviolet irradiation of blood are used and the introduction of gamma globulin, staphylococcal toxoid or vaccine. Medicamental immunomodulating therapy is prescribed in accordance with the results of the immunogram. Simultaneously with the treatment of the furuncles, the correction of concomitant diseases and the relief of complications are carried out.
Prevention
Personal hygiene, prevention of micro-traumas of the skin and timely treatment of injured areas of the skin.
