Treatment of thrush

Thrush is an inflammatory fungal disease; the causative agent of which is yeastlike fungus belongs to the genus Candida, because its second name is vaginal candidiasis.

Candida is on the skin and mucous membranes (in the mouth and intestines) of most healthy people. And the transition of Candida into a parasitic state can contribute to dysbacteriosis, which occurs when prescribing broad-spectrum antibiotics, a decrease body’s host defenses due to prolonged prescription of some medicine (corticosteroids, immunosuppressants), the presence of serious diseases (cancer, blood diseases, diabetes, etc.).

Most often, thrush occurs by decreasing of general and local immunity. And if the treatment was not started in a timely manner, this process can be delayed for a very long time.

Thrush does not belong to venereal diseases and is considered together with them  because of the similar clinical presentation.

Conducive factors to the development of thrush:

• a course of antibiotics
• HIV infection
• Douching
• wearing of tight underwear( especially synthetic )
• pregnancy
• diabetes

Thrush symptoms in women

Сandidiasis of mucous membrane (thrush) manifest itself in the form of white patches (solid or in the form of isolated areas). The affected areas are usually painless, but when the hardening of plaque, the formation of fissures may not be apparent sickliness. When skin candidiasis, there is redness, skin maceration, there may be balanitis, perianal itch. When vaginal candidiasis in women, white crumb-like (curd) discharge is noted, there may be vaginal itching and burning, itching, painfulness and redness of the external genitals, pain during sexual intercourse and urination.

Why thrush is dangerous?

This disease does not cause much harm to health. However, it causes a lot of anxiety to the patient and prevents normal sexual life. In addition, thrush can be a sign of severe common diseases (such as diabetes and HIV infection). Once they have seen a doctor and received instructions how to overcome thrush, many people follow them again and again if necessary. This course of thrush treatment will help once, twice, or three times, but sooner or later the magic wand will break.

The root of the problem is the abatement of the immunity, and thrush is only its external manifestation. Therefore, simultaneously with the thrush treatment, it is necessary to search for and eliminate the cause of immunodeficiency and to strengthen your own microflora. Without it the thrush will appear again and again. In addition, the thrush symptoms: discharge, itching and burning may not be so harmless. The same symptoms are typical for gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, gardnerellosis, genital herpes, chlamydia, mycoplasmosis, ureaplasmosis and other infections. And for their treatment, completely different medications are required (the entire spectrum of these microorganisms is included in the scope of the antimicrobial apparatus).
