Treatment of diseases of the sebaceous glands

A comprehensive, individualized, anonymous approach to treatment.
The disease affects from 70 to 80% of the adolescent population (it appears in women at the age of 10-17 years, and in men at the age of 14-19 years), and about 10-12% of the adult population over 25 years, and the course of the disease is more severe. The main complaints are the appearance of pimples, black dots, and oily skin. This disease does not threaten life, but how much mental suffering is it, especially for young people.
Many parents believe that this disease should not be paid attention. They say, the child will grow up, the hormonal background will change, and everything will pass by itself. Yes, it is possible for someone to resolve on their own, but it is rare. So it is better to start treatment at an early stage. Often the disease is accompanied by psychological problems, including anxiety, depression. Do not retreat into yourself, and remember, the earlier you start treatment, the better.
The following factors play a role in the formation of common acne:
- the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes;
- hormonal changes, increased levels of male sex hormones (androgens) that cause an increase of the sebaceous glands and increase their secretion in both men and women;
- hereditary predisposition
Provoke the exacerbation:
– nutrition. Some food products, e.g. chocolate, fizzy drinks, nuts, coffee;
– fluid retention. Exacerbation of acne rashes in the premenstrual period occurs due to edema of the ducts of the sebaceous glands as a result of fluid retention;
– external factors, for example: contamination of the skin with oils, tar, DDT. As well as improper skin care;
– overuse of hormonal agents.

A visual examination is enough to diagnose, and the following tests will help to determine the cause:
- blood hormone tests (free testosterone, FSH, LH, estradiol, 5-testosterone (dihydrotestosterone, DHT) and 5-androstenediol). Tests should be taken on an empty stomach for women on 5-7 days from the beginning of the menstrual cycle, for men it is not important, but it is preferably before 10 am;
- analysis for intestinal dysbacteriosis; in case of any changes in the analysis – a doctor’s consultation to correct the condition( gynecologist, gynecologist endocrinologist, therapist, andrologist, gastroenterologist);
- clinical blood analysis (whether there is inflammation since it will aggravate the course of acne) in the presence of abscesses analysis for pathogenic flora and sensitivity to antibiotics;
- Biochemical blood test (especially liver values), ultrasound for women on an empty stomach, also on the 5-7 day of the menstrual cycle (to exclude polycystic ovaries);
- nose and pharynx culture (if pathogenic flora is detected, the consultation and treatment with an ORL specialist is necessary);
- parasitic complex;
- if there is acne , it is necessary to scrape demodex, which can complicate the course of the disease.
