Herpes is the most common viral disease, the causative agent of which is HSV, that is, the herpes simplex virus. About 90% of the world’s population has the herpes simplex virus, but only 5% of these people have the virus showing symptoms of the disease, while the rest have herpes disease without clinical consequences.

      The virus most often affects:

  • skin, eyes (keratitis),
  • mucous membranes of the face,
  • mucous membranes of the genitals,
  • Central nervous system (meningitis).

Hypothermia (exposure), reducing the body’s resistance forwards the development of
this disease. Herpes is also possible in hot weather (insolation).

Symptoms of herpes

The blisters are unpleasant, but after a while they become сrusted and heal.

The following organs in women are most amenable to manifestations of herpes rashes: the vagina, labia and cervix. Less often, rashes appear on the perineum, pubis, thighs and buttocks.

Herpes becomes recurrent in approximately 30-50% of infected people. In this case, the timing of re-occurrence may be different, but usually they are up to 6 months.

Complications of herpes

Complications of herpes may cause bad consequences. First of all, this is a fetus intrauterine infection. Herpes in the cervix can cause infertility. There are also cases of herpes viruses in the nervous structures of the pelvis, which lead to persistent pain syndromes, neuritis, ganglionitis, pelvic sympathalgia.
