Demodecosis – mite Demodex folliculorum, is a disease accompanied by skin lesions with a microscopic mite. In most people, this mite is a normal inhabitant of the skin, which feeds on cast-off cells. As soon as the body relaxes its vigilance, the mite penetrates into the deeper skin layers and causes inflammation.
Demodecosis in humans is very similar to rosacea and acne. A combination of these diseases is not uncommon, since both common and pink acne affect the natural protection of the skin.
Demodecosis can be at any age and can occur on the background of acne treatment. It often affects the eyelids, showing clinical redness, itching, sight reduction, thereby causing discomfort in the patient. But mostly the disease begins in youth, in adolescence, during pregnancy, after severe emotional stress. Usually, the appearance of acne-like elements on the skin is attributed to pimples, which, according to numerous advisers, should pass independently after puberty.
Spontaneous recovery from demodecosis is not found. Usually, the disease gradually moves from one skin area to another, creating quite certain inconveniences for woman or man. Squeezing out acne for demodecosis only leads to an exacerbation of the infection, since during this process, mites are pressed into unaffected areas of the skin.
When demodecosis occurs, the desquamation of skin and redness. Skin lesion may be accompanied by itching, which may be permanent or appear after applying tonics or washing with cold water.

If numerous Demodex mites are found in the scrape, as well as if there are typical manifestations of infection, a diagnosis of demodecosis is made. To detect a subcutaneous mite, a scrape is performed from the affected area of the skin, after which research is performed under a microscope.
Treatment of demodecosis must be complex.
On the one hand, it is necessary to restore the skin defenses and the body as a whole, on the other part, it is necessary to repress activities of the mite.
It is very important in the treatment of this disease to find the causes. It can only be done with a full complex examination, depending on the complaints and the specific clinical case.
These can be:
blood sugar test;
clinical blood analysis
parasitic complex;
immunogram;
nasopharynx culture;
stool culture, dysbacteriosis, intestinal group;
biochemical blood analysis (liver function test)
Treatment of demodecosis is very difficult, as it is often combined with acne, seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea. The treatment process takes from one and a half to 6 months and should be carried out by a dermatologist.
